FOUNDER / NUTRITIONAL THERAPIST / HEALTH COACH / BUSINESS MENTOR
Helen Moynihan, CNHC, BANT
My journey into Nutritional Therapy was triggered by my own health crisis. Feeling desperately ill, low and helpless after 18 months on fertility medication coupled with a diagnosis of Polycystic Ovaries, I knew there had to be another way. My life changed after the first appointment with a wonderful Nutritional Therapist. Finally, someone not only listened to me but also opened the door to a world where I could take control of my own wellbeing. With balanced nourishment and empowering advice, my health returned, followed by two natural pregnancies. I have never looked back!

The care and knowledge I received from my Nutritional Therapist were life-changing, and I wanted to share it with others. I gave up my high-octane career to study nutrition with the renowned Institute for Optimum Nutrition in Richmond, Surrey.

I had a busy life working two full time jobs as a restaurant owner and teacher. I was equally passionate about my career and my family life being a mother and wife, but was left with poor work life balance and most importantly I didn’t know how to take time for my own health. My body began to let me know something had to change.I had been resilient for many years but no longer could keep up as I had in the past. I suffered from digestive issues and problems with sleep and often felt overwhelmed.

Studying Nutritional Therapy and Breathwork have taught me how to live a life of balance and I am able to live a full life and handle whatever comes my way with energy and focus. I can now help people like myself who want to relieve digestive symptoms, feel less anxious or overwhelmed, gain more energy, have a focused mind, and restful sleep in a holistic way. My mission when working with clients is to guide and support as many people as possible through nutritional therapy and nutritional coaching struggling with these aspects of their daily lives.

It was while working, in the early 2000's, for an award-winning charity in an area of deprivation, I became more aware of the role healthy food plays in children's and adult's lives, I found chose to study for a diploma in nutrition to enhance my knowledge and ability to initiate change. With a focus on getting children to eat healthily, I began to explore the importance of nutrition before they were conceived. At the same time clients were coming to me struggling with their own fertility journeys, in order to give the best care I trained in reproflexology to support clients with stress levels and balancing hormones via reflexology, this led to me joining the two therapies together to provide a more holistic approach.
Knowing that many illness are preventable before birth, I want to educate and support as many parents-to-be as possible that this is the case with holistic pre-conception care, and to support women to have the best pregnancy that they can. I have supported many clients through natural and assisted conception, including those that have experienced losses, you are in safe hands.

I have always had a passion for food. After finishing my first degree in Food Science and Nutrition, I started my career in the food industry and worked with some of the industries’ leading brands, including innocent drinks and Marks & Spencer. Despite landing the “dream job” travelling the world, tasting and developing chocolate and desserts for a global retailer, I experienced first-hand the impact food can have on mind and body. As deliciously delightful as it sounds, it was the decadence of this role that contributed to the downfall in my own health. The enforced daily high sugar diet, frequent travel, burning the candle at both ends with typical city-life; overall a lot less focus on health and more on stress, meant my hormones were in havoc, my mood had plummeted, anxiety was high, and balance was lost.
This ignited a passion to restore health, nurture balance and learn even more about nutrition. I quit the day job, launched my own food consultancy in 2016. Alongside working with some of the top positive-nutrition brands in the business, this also allowed me to return to studies; completing my MSc in Personalised Nutrition. Having already completed my BSc in Nutrition, I couldn't believe how many, "I cannot believe I didn't know this about my own body sooner" moments I had during my MSc. I truly began to appreciate that there is no ‘one size fits all’ approach; that similar symptoms can have different root causes amongst us, and how personalised nutrition can help address this. I am passionate about demystifying the nutrition noise for people, having real insights into the food industry really helps with this too. Now, as a dedicated nutritionist and functional medicine practitioner, I love to support women and help them put their health first - particularly during those big life transitions; puberty, fertility, pregnancy, motherhood, peri-menopause, menopause; where we are often putting up with lingering symptoms whilst building and managing a career, juggling family life and being the family caretaker.
