Helen Moynihan clinic owner

FOUNDER / NUTRITIONAL THERAPIST / HEALTH COACH / BUSINESS MENTOR

Helen Moynihan, CNHC, BANT

My journey into Nutritional Therapy was triggered by my own health crisis. Feeling desperately ill, low and helpless after 18 months on fertility medication coupled with a diagnosis of Polycystic Ovaries, I knew there had to be another way. My life changed after the first appointment with a wonderful Nutritional Therapist. Finally, someone not only listened to me but also opened the door to a world where I could take control of my own wellbeing. With balanced nourishment and empowering advice, my health returned, followed by two natural pregnancies. I have never looked back!

The care and knowledge I received from my Nutritional Therapist were life-changing, and I wanted to share it with others. I gave up my high-octane career to study nutrition with the renowned Institute for Optimum Nutrition in Richmond, Surrey.

After qualifying and building a successful practice, I founded Venus Nutrition. I now work (mostly) with women who struggle with hormonal imbalances (PCOS, endometriosis, infertility, menopause); digestive and gut disorders; fatigue issues and weight gain.  I have a specialist interest in pre-diabetes and diabetes. I am also a guest lecturer at ION and a business mentor for other nutrition professionals.

Over the years, I have helped my clients take ownership of their health. It is a joy and privilege to work in a field which makes a difference in people's lives.

I had a busy life working two full time jobs as a restaurant owner and teacher. I was equally passionate about my career and my family life being a mother and wife, but was left with poor work life balance and most importantly I didn’t know how to take time for my own health. My body began to let me know something had to change.I had been resilient for many years but no longer could keep up as I had in the past. I suffered from digestive issues and problems with sleep and often felt overwhelmed.

Studying Nutritional Therapy and Breathwork have taught me how to live a life of balance and I am able to live a full life and handle whatever comes my way with energy and focus. I can now help people like myself who want to relieve digestive symptoms, feel less anxious or overwhelmed, gain more energy, have a focused mind, and restful sleep in a holistic way. My mission when working with clients is to guide and support as many people as possible through nutritional therapy and nutritional coaching struggling with these aspects of their daily lives.

It was while working, in the early 2000's, for an award-winning charity in an area of deprivation, I became more aware of the role healthy food plays in children's and adult's lives, I found chose to study for a diploma in nutrition to enhance my knowledge and ability to initiate change. With a focus on getting children to eat healthily, I began to explore the importance of nutrition before they were conceived. At the same time clients were coming to me struggling with their own fertility journeys, in order to give the best care I trained in reproflexology to support clients with stress levels and balancing hormones via reflexology, this led to me joining the two therapies together to provide a more holistic approach.

Knowing that many illness are preventable before birth, I want to educate and support as many parents-to-be as possible that this is the case with holistic pre-conception care, and to support women to have the best pregnancy that they can. I have supported many clients through natural and assisted conception, including those that have experienced losses, you are in safe hands.

I have always had a deep passion for food. After completing my degree in Food Science and Nutrition, I began my career in the food industry, working with some of the United Kingdom’s best-known brands, including Innocent and Marks & Spencer. Despite landing what many would call a dream job, travelling the world developing chocolate and desserts for a global retailer, I soon experienced how profoundly food can affect both mind and body. The daily indulgence, frequent travel, and fast-paced corporate life took their toll. My hormones became imbalanced, my energy and mood dropped, and anxiety crept in. I realised that something had to change, and that true wellbeing begins with balance and nourishment, not busyness.

That realisation reignited my passion to restore health and learn more about nutrition. I left the corporate world and launched my own food consultancy in 2016, working with positive-nutrition brands while studying for a Master’s degree in Personalised Nutrition. It was a transformative experience that reinforced my belief that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to health.

Today, as a nutritionist and functional medicine practitioner, I help women put their health first through personalised nutrition and lifestyle support. I specialise in supporting women through life’s key transitions from puberty and fertility to motherhood and menopause helping them find balance, energy, and confidence along the way.
