Here is day one of my surviving Christmas tips. Christmas is a time to really enjoy your food, wind down and spend time with your loved ones. But you also want to have enough energy to enjoy each day and not spend the next two months recovering and trying to lose the weight that you have put on!
Day one – impress your friends and family with some home made cocktails. You can create the most wonderful mock or cocktails adapting juice recipes.
For parties – Cranberry Cooler – juice cranberries to make 1 cup of juice, add 1/2 cup of freshly squeezed orange juice and 1/4 cup of lime juice. Top with soda water or add 6 measures of tequila (to serve 4), add frozen cranberries instead of ice.
Christmas eve -Mulled Apple Juice – juice apples to make about 1/2 litre of juice, warm with a stick of cinnamon and a few cloves for 10 minutes in a saucepan serve with a few strips of orange peel you could add a dash of brandy.
Christmas day morning – Pomegranate and Clementine Juice. Blitz a carton of pomegranate seeds in a blender but only briefly and sieve, then hand juice clementines to produce 150ml of juice and mix. This can be made the day before and stored in an airtight jar in the fridge. Add champagne!
